Rota Nanny Job Specification

Reporting to: Principals; Chief of Staff Salary: Dependent on experience Hours: Full time, on a rota basis

Summary:

Seeking professional rota nanny to join a team of 4 nannies looking after 4 children (ages 8-15). This is a one week on/off position working Monday to Sunday, with 2 nannies on duty at all times, with occasional longer shifts during the school holidays when travelling.

The role will be a mix of live in and live out, depending on the family’s location and schedule. The main residence is in London (principally Richmond, as well as Kensington), and involves regular use of other UK residences (weekends and school holidays), as well as overseas.

Daily duties:

  • Supervise the children at all times in a busy household
  • Take care of the school runs, and collections from after-school events
  • Keep children’s areas tidy (including bedrooms and areas after activities)
  • Ensure the children have clean clothes and uniforms, and maintain good personal hygiene
  • Proactively plan and lead age-appropriate, engaging activities that align with their interests

    and needs

  • Oversee and assist with the children’s homework, additional educational exercises, and

    personal development

  • Prepare healthy meals and snacks, cleaning up after mealtimes
  • Travel with the family during holidays, including packing suitable clothing and any other

    personal effects. Plan and manage the children’s holiday schedule to include suitable age-

    appropriate, engaging activities, as well as overseeing educational development tasks

  • Plan and coordinate playdates, birthday celebrations, and maintain effective communication

    with parent groups to support the children’s social development

  • Carry out ad hoc errands whilst children are at school

    General duties:

  • Put the children’s best interests above all else (education, health, behaviour)
  • Maintain effective communication with the Principals to align on goals, routines, and key

    updates

  • Promote healthy habits (eating, exercise, limiting screentime, daily routines)
  • Maintain consistent boundaries with the children, instilling good manners and etiquette
  • Keep track of all school-related matters – newsletters, parents’ evenings, excursions,

    activities, exam timetables, tutoring, homework, etc.

  • Collaborate with the office team to oversee an organise the children’s calendar, including

    medical appointments, school events, tutoring, exams, extracurricular activities, and weekend/holiday commitments. Ensure all weekly schedules, appointments, and activities are accurately organised, added as calendar invites, and regularly updated to reflect any changes

  • Proactively oversee all medical and health-related matters relating to the children (including organising medical appointments, prescriptions, ordering products) and ensuring the children are well cared for in all respects
  • Liaise with other staff members to help facilitate the smooth running of family life

Requirements:

  • Provide excellent references, have relevant experience, and demonstrate a genuine passion for childcare
  • Fluent English
  • Solid educational background
  • Strong organisational and administration skills and IT literacy, including emails, Microsoft

    Office suite, and calendar entries

  • Travel ready with a valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions
  • Flexible and willing to adjust the rota/schedule/location to meet the needs of the family,

    including extended periods of family travel overseas during school holidays

  • Hold an up-to-date DBS and first aid training
  • Hold a valid driving license and be confident at driving the family, as required
  • Have the ability and experience to manage multiple children aged 8 up to teenagers
  • Be well presented, physically fit, and plenty of energy to keep up with the children
  • Pet friendly (dogs, rabbits)
  • Have experience overseeing homework. Tutoring or formal educational experience a bonus
  • Have experience with and understanding of neurodiversity (ASD/ADHD) would be beneficial
