About Us

INHOUSE was set up in 2000 by Mary Dobson, who has been working in the industry since 1994.

We offer a discreet, bespoke service for discerning employers within private households and prestigious private establishments. We specialise in the very highest calibre of domestic staff on a full time, part time or on a temporary basis both in the UK and Internationally.

We can assist with all staffing needs, however large or small. We have successfully supplied candidates to professional city-dwelling families, working country estates, stately homes, holiday villas and ocean going yachts.

How We Work

We offer a quality service to both clients and staff and will not waste your time by sending unsuitable applicants nor waste the applicant’s time by sending them for unsuitable posts.

After establishing your requirements we provide you with a selection of suitable candidates from our extensive database. For each candidate we endeavor to produce résumé outlining a candidate’s details and include a photograph. Once you have chosen the right candidates we will arrange the interviews on your behalf.


All our applicants have gone through our rigorous process of personal interview, reference and previous employment history verification. They must have at least two years experience and / or relevant professional qualifications. We ensure that all applicants have legal rights to work in the UK.

All written references are personally verbally endorsed before any candidate would be considered for any suitable vacancy.

Live in Housekeeper – Knightsbridge, London

An opportunity has arisen for a housekeeper/cook to work for a single lady based in Knightsbridge London. The lady has recently re located so the apartment is newly renovated.  (She has recently been widowed)

This a five and a half day week. Monday through to Saturday lunch time.

Start time around 8 a.m. to around 7.30 pm.  Have time off in the afternoon.

General housekeeping duties, washing and ironing, vacumming, polishing etc., Managing the lady’s wardrobe. Cooking light meals, fish and vegetables etc.,  Large food orders are delivered by Ocado.

Must be child friendly as her grandchildren visit twice a week.

Previous Filipino housekeeper has been with her for twenty years and is leaving to retire.

Accommodation consists of own bedroom and bathroom.

Salary £500. net per week.  To start 27th July.

The duties will include general maintenance of the property, daily property cleaning, cooking healthy meals, taking are of the laundry/dry cleaning, managing the wardrobe.  Daily provisioning for the family and overseeing the household accounts.  Occasional travelling will be required.

Capability to organise and cook dinners/lunches for family and guests, entertainment, and parties up to 25 people.

Time off to be taken in turns with other house staff.  Probationary period is 6 months with one week not during this time. After the probationary period notice to be give in one month.

The duties include general maintenance of the property, Daileys house cleaning, cooking healthy meals, taking care of the Landry/dry cleaning, managing the wardrobe.  Daily provisioning for the family and overseeing the household accounts.  Occasional travelling will be required.  Time off to be take in turns, holidays to be taken in turns with other house staff.  Probationary period is six months with one week not during this time.  After the probationary period notice to be given is one month.  The Employees will work a maximum of twelve hours a day.

Salary £30k gross.  Accommodation one bedroom and bathroom in Mews House nearby.Twenty eight days paid holiday in each holiday year which shall include the usual bank and public holidays in England and Wales or a day in lieu where the employee is required to work on a bank or public holiday.  Weekly days off 1.5 days.

Live in Couple for Cotswolds – H/K cook – Houseman with outside duties

An opportunity for a live-in domestic couple at a country estate in Gloucestershire.  The household are looking for an experience and committed domestic couple.  The household employs and Estate Manage, 2 gardeners are employed to tend to the grounds.  The Principals like to entertain and are looking for a couple who ideally have skills, and meticulous housekeeping skills.  A driver’s license is essential for both of the couple. Other staff are employed.  The family have a main residence abroad, this is their main residence in the UK which is mainly used, for holidays, Xmas, Easter and Summer.  To start asap.

Duties to be shared between the live in couple.

High standard of cleaning throughout the property. Laundry. cook nutritious meals for family and guests on occasion (breakfast) (they do get a temporary chef in).

Shop locally for fresh produce in use alongside the produce from the vegetable and fruit garden.

Greet family/guests upon arrival and ensure they have everything they need during their stay.

Unpacking and packing for the Principal. Family and guests if required.

Table setting.

Serve at table and serve wine.

Ensure  stocks of wine and other beverages are corrected stored allowing for temperature changes.

Supervise and assist with the heavy cleaning tasks, both inside and on the terraces around the pool.

Ensure all household equipment including lighting and AV systems are in sound working order – thorough check to be carried out well in advance of family and guests arriving.

Upkeeep of furniture are and china, silver and crystal.

Maintain inventories of furnishings, wine arts and collectables.

Care of dogs (although there are other staff who also help)

Care of estate vehicles, driving duties.

Accommodation comprises of a separate two bedroom flat which is in a courtyard, the otherside of the lane from the main house.



Nanny – live in – Notting Hill Gate

An opportunity has arisen to work for a lovely family of four based in Notting Hill.

The family consists of two adults and two boys aged two and a half and four and a half.  Both attend school nearby.

There is a daily housekeeper employed from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. Monday to Friday and also a weekend nanny/hk.

Start time 7a.m. getting the boys up and ready for school, carrying out all nursery duties, preparing health food (which sometimes may include the whole family), help with the other housekeeper doing general housekeeping duties.

Must be able to travel with family during school holidays. If the applicant can speak any Spanish that would be a plus.

Accommodation comprises of bedroom and ensuite on the top floor of this four storey house.

Occasional babysitting required.  Monday to Friday.  To start around 10th August.

£550 net per week

Travelling Valet

An elderly businessman  is looking for a travelling valet to join his long serving existing team.

Destinations include London, a country estate in Berkshire (UK), Paris, Monaco, Geneva, Marbella and New York.  Travel is generally by Private Jet, and when not staying in one of his own homes, the client always stays in the worlds leading hotels (as will the valet).

The gentleman is renowned for his immaculate presentation and so assured and proven valet skills are vital..

Classis Valet responsibilities, include: organising the personal needs of the client, the client general travels with 14 suitcases (which include coffee machine, preferred washing powders, steamers etc, along with his clothes) so this role involves inventorying, packing, unpacking, managing luggage, valeting, managing table and drink service and personal laundry.  When he is staying in one of his homes, his wife’s team tends to take over, so this is when the valets can step back and/or take time off.  The valet’s home base can be anywhere, as the client will provide accommodation and/or fly staff back home for holidays and longer periods of rest.

His previous valet was with him for 30  years and is only stepping down due to ill health, the remaining valet has been with him for 17 years.  His house staff generally stay for very long periods.

The role will require very close co-operation with the other valet, so there will need to be an understanding of the importance of precedence, the existing valet is a very nice man and has been in the business for a long time. The new valet will be an assistant to the valet.  Must hold British or European passport to enable easy travel.
