INHOUSE was set up in 2000 by Mary Dobson, who has been working in the industry since 1994.

We offer a discreet, bespoke service for discerning employers within private households and prestigious private establishments. We specialise in the very highest calibre of domestic staff on a full time, part time or on a temporary basis both in the UK and Internationally.

We can assist with all staffing needs, however large or small. We have successfully supplied candidates to professional city-dwelling families, working country estates, stately homes, holiday villas and ocean going yachts.

How We Work

We offer a quality service to both clients and staff and will not waste your time by sending unsuitable applicants nor waste the applicant’s time by sending them for unsuitable posts.

After establishing your requirements we provide you with a selection of suitable candidates from our extensive database. For each candidate we endeavor to produce résumé outlining a candidate’s details and include a photograph. Once you have chosen the right candidates we will arrange the interviews on your behalf.

All our applicants have gone through our rigorous process of personal interview, reference and previous employment history verification. They must have at least two years experience and / or relevant professional qualifications. We ensure that all applicants have legal rights to work in the UK.

Our client is seeking an experienced Housekeeper with good family cooking skills and childcare experience, to work with this family with 2 young children.

Duties are to maintain this 3 storey house, cleaning, laundry and wardrobe management, assist mum with the children when she is busy, plus some babysitting. As well, you will be a confident family cook able to prepare healthy nutritional meals for the family dinner.

Must be dog friendly and must have a Drivers Licence to drive to property, and assist with children, school pick up etc.

You will have recent and checkable references, a current DBS (or willing to obtain), and clean Driving Licence (staff car available). Hours Monday to Friday – Midday to 8pm. CHEF/COOK live out Sloane Square, London

CHEF VACANCY – Chelsea – Profile/Overview

Our clients are looking for a happy, presentable, personable and talented chef who is able to cook lunch and dinner for them in their new home in Chelsea, situated a stones throw from Sloane Square.

The chef is required to devise menus, shop, prepare, cook and where necessary serve meals for the principals their children and occasional house and dinner guests. The chef will also be expected to prepare a simple hot lunch for the house-staff, who  include a house-manager and housekeepers.

The couple have 3 young children [4 / 2 & 1] and entertain only occasionally, they enjoy a quiet, healthy lifestyle. The chef is expected to be able to prepare the following meals as and when required:

  • Lunch (children 11:30/12:00 before nap / parents immediately after)
  • Dinner  (children 17:00/17:30 / Parents same time or immediately after)
  • Snacks (the principal is often working from home, so there may be occasional  requirements  to serve items at business meetings etc

 

The family enjoy Homely, Modern British, French, Italian and Northern American dishes, and expect their chef to be able to provide nicely presented meals which are visually attractive, tasty, nutritious and well-balanced, conforming to any dietary restrictions which may be followed at any given time – for example low in butter and dairy.

The principals and their young family do travel internationally, so there may be occasional requirements for the chef to accompany them, but these occasions will be extremely rare/if ever, so there will be periods that provide ample time for the chef to catch up with any time owed.

The successful candidate may have worked in respected hotels or restaurants and may also have experience of working in private homes – candidates must be able to present excellent written references (which can be verbally verified) and will have to undertake a enhanced DBS.

  • Days and Hours: Five days a week, to include occasional/some weekends with days off in week

Role and Responsibilities:

 

The chef will be required to present menus for approval on a weekly basis, he or she will then need to organise: menu-planning, shopping & food preparation and cooking, while always ensuring that: ingredients are correctly stored, stock is properly monitored, wastage is kept to an absolute minimum, the kitchen is always maintained in a tidy and hygienically perfect state and all receipts are properly audited and passed to the house-manager in a correct and timely fashion. The chef will also be required to serve meals, and wash-up and put things away after service. Like all private households, it is expected that the chef will take pride in their kitchen and will personally ensure that the kitchen is left spotless and organised after every service.

Candidate must have:

 

  • worked in a respected organisations and show they have the ability to work alone
  • advanced knowledge of Food Hygiene and H&S regulation
  • advanced knowledge of the rules of etiquette, protocol and good manners
  • the ability to always remain professional in every circumstance
  • the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • have a pro-active approach to work
  • a Clean Police Record and be happy to undergo an enhanced DBS Check
  • excellent checkable references

 

While it is important that Candidates present the right credentials, the client would also like to emphasise that they expect to find a chef who has

Weekeend Nanny – Mayfair, London

A weekend nanny is required for a family based in Mayfair.  They have two children, a boy aged 14 months and a girl just over three years, hours required are from 9 a.m. to 7p.m.

Duties are taking the children to the park, entertaining them, preparing food, bathing and getting them ready for bed, basic nanny duties.

Daily Housekeeper – Kensington, London

Our clients are returning to their London home after a period of absence, so they are looking to supplement the existing household team with an efficient, quick-thinking, proactive Daily Housekeeper, who is able to work proactively and methodically. It is vital that candidates show they can follow instruction and that they will work harmoniously alongside an established team of staff.

This formally styled, beautiful, contemporary private home close to Kensington High St & Holland Park boasts high-design interiors, airy reception rooms and bedroom suites, an indoor swimming pool, gym & spa, media room and formal gardens being meticulous, sharp-eyed and detail-orientated, with a friendly character and a vocational approach to their work and career. It is also expected that candidates show the highest level of discretion, and they must be backed up by excellent, checkable references.

 

  • 5 days on 2 days off
  • 3 months probation
  • Holiday entitlement => usual 20 days + 8 bank holidays pro rata to the start date

 

Obviously, housekeeping candidates must have a legal right to live and work in the UK, and have an established home in or close to London.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The type of duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Maintain all areas in a clean, tidy and in the prescribed sanitised fashion
  • Wipe, wash, dust, polish, sweep and vacuum all areas
  • Service, clean, polish fittings and hard finishes, tidy and sanitise bathrooms and cloakrooms
  • Clean and polish mirrors and windows
  • Methodically and accurately label and sort items for washing, following care instructions, to ensure items are either machine or hand-washed or sent for dry cleaning
  • Iron, press & valet items, folding or hanging as appropriate, before returning to the rightful place
  • Empty, wipe clean and sanitise trash cans
  • Ensure client instructions and requests are understood and properly followed
  • Maintain a proper and correct level of stock of cleaning items
  • Use housekeeping equipment correctly and ensure it is always in good working order, with fluff-filters regularly cleaned, their surfaces wiped, and vacuum bags replaced and filters washed and properly dried before re-use. Report maintenance issues immediately to superior
  • Maintain immaculate, tidy and organised storage areas
  • Assist other staff members, such as the chef, especially during meal times

 

Candidates must:

  • Have proven housekeeping experience gathered in respected private homes and/or deluxe 5 star hospitality environments
  • Present excellent, checkable references
  • Exhibit an innate eye for detail, and show they can achieve immaculate standards of work
  • Show a friendly and cheerful disposition, and a willing, “can-do” attitude
  • Be able to follow instruction when given, but use initiative when the occasion arises
  • While the hours of work are rostered in advance, a level of flexibility may be required, to help during busy or unexpected events

Nanny

Our client, a working mum and dad with 3 boys aged 5, 12 & 14 years old are seeking a good all rounder to manage this busy household and the 3 boys. Requirements as follows:

You will have an honest, kind, confident and proven experience in childcare

  • Tend to all childcare and school related duties along with household management keeping things ticking over, shopping, ordering, contractors etc.
  • Drop off and pick up from schools, social activities, liaise with school, emails, appointments, wardrobes, tidy kids rooms etc.
  • There is a part time cleaner who will do the hard cleaning however it would be expected that you have a ‘muck in’ attitude ie empty dishwasher, wipe down sinks, light sweep etc keeping the house tidy in between cleaner’s visits.
  • You will also have good family cooking skills to ensure mainly, the boys are looked after and something left for the parents.
  • Current lady is now studying at university, and after 3 years is leaving.
  • Driver a plus, but not a deal breaker.
  • No pets in household – highly allergic household.
  • Must have recent and checkable references and DBS (or willing to apply).
  • Hours Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm. Salary negotiable £550 – 600 npwk / upto £42,000 gross pa. Start 1st October

Part time Daily Housekeeper – Holland Park, London

An opportunity has arisen to work for a lovely couple who have retained their previous staff for fifteen years.

Based in a flat in Holland Park close to the tube station, my client requires a competent housekeeper who can work two days a week preferably on Tuesday for five hours and Friday for five hours, to carry out basic housekeeping duties, washing and ironing, polishing floors, cleaning silver, would be helpful if the candidate would be able on the odd occasion to be able to cook a dinner, healthy meals.
