INHOUSE was set up in 2000 by Mary Dobson, who has been working in the industry since 1994.

Residential cook/housekeeper – London SW1

Looking for a new live in housekeeper/cook principle is flexible to 5.5 days a week (first choice) to 5 days a week. Salary is £550-£600 net per week.  Location Chester Square SW1 Victoria.

Key job duties are:-

-Making Indian and European food; good home cooking standard. Healthy cooking and some kids food.

– setting table

– washing dishes

– serving tea/coffee/snacks

– Looking after laundry for kitchen and some ironing when free

– keeping kitchen stock organised writing shopping lists passing to Madam or PA to order more supplies for kitchen and cleaning products

  • Days and hours of work – 5 days or 5.5 days hours 7am – 7pm with breaks. Half day would be 7am – 1pm. Days on rota basis tends to be same days off each week agreed on commencement of employment.
  • Accommodation is private bedroom and bathroom in residence.

Couple to work in Hampshire

Experienced, full-time, live in domestic couple required to partner with our existing domestic couple and work with other household team members including a House Manager, Chef, daily cleaners, Nanny and 4 gardeners.

 The family consists of 2 principals, and they have 4 children between 9 and 16. The property is used for weekends, school holidays and during Christmas.

 Between the two of you, the following responsibilities would be shared: 

 Heavy housekeeping such as changing lightbulbs, changing plugs and cleaning internal windows

 Cleaning outside areas/furniture

 Serving the family both informal & formal dinner settings (chef does not serve).

House Manager, Lake Como Italy

Standard Hours – 8 hours per day, 6 days per week during bookings. Maybe required to work longer hours if needed. More flexible on weeks when there are no bookings.

Job Description – This individual, with excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, will be client facing and responsible for ensuring the optimal guest experience. They will have responsibility for managing and co=ordinating on-site staff and ensuring the property operates to the highest of standard at all times.


  • General management of the operation of the property and its rental activity
  • Interaction with guests and ensuring that they receive top level service at all times
  • Management of chef, caretaking staff, cleaning staff and any other staff that may be working at the property at any given time – allocating tasks, managing their schedules and ensuring the team works seamlessly together
  • Ensuring the villa is presented at the requisite level at all times during guests stay including making sure it is presented in line with the interior designer’s specifications
  • Accounting – Management of expenditure, reconciling accounts and reporting to management team
  • Arranging transfers, boat excursions, restaurant bookings, massages, yoga instructors and any other requirements/additional services that guests request

We are seeking a kind and friendly housekeeper who is naturally well-presented to work alongside 1 other housekeeper, in a beautiful duplex, penthouse apartment in Battersea.

The apartment is vast, and includes numerous bedroom suites, reception rooms, formal dining-room, family kitchen, expansive outdoor terraces etc.

The Patrons are retired, and wish to enjoy their home to the maximum, therefore they are looking for a focussed, motivated and conscientious housekeeper, who can work diligently, delivering practiced, high standards of housekeeping.

The Role: To maintain and apartment in pristine condition. Candidates must show enthusiasm for their work and exhibit a practiced, keen eye-for-detail, strive for perfect results and take the old fashioned approach that “if they do a job, it should be done properly”!


  • Ensuring that the apartment is perfectly presented;
  • Oversee all aspects of general housekeeping and deep cleaning, including care for fine furniture and surfaces, art, antiques, soft furnishings and the polishing of and care for all silver, brass, china, etc;

A “Travelling Butler and House Manager” is sought for our international client, to start ASAP

Based in Italy, The Travelling Butler and House Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day stewardship and provision of service in the households, providing strong leadership and “hands-on” support to fellow staff to ensure that the residences are always maintained and administered to exceptional standards.

The primary objectives of The Travelling Butler and House Manager is to ensure the comfort of The Principals, their family members, and guests, as well as provide proper coordination with the Chef, the day and evening staff, housekeeping, and sub-contractors, as well as making all arrangements for functions and events, while offering advice on potential improvements and maintenance projects.

You will be required to ensure that all the properties under your supervision are maintained and operated to a standard expected of The Principals. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the households including the aesthetic presentation of the interior and exterior. You will plan and assist in all service aspects required by The Principals and their family members while you will assist with the planning and coordination of “special events”.

You will be responsible for all domestic employees that work within your assigned portfolio and will be required to liaise with them to ensure tasks are carried out fluidly and effectively. This may include, housekeeping and maintenance staff, drivers as well as specialist contractors. In conjunction with existing management you will provide training to the staff either in-house or by hiring external professional training services. You will be required to communicate with all personnel to ensure a clear understanding of their work requirements and daily tasks. You will be responsible for staff morale, productivity and efficiency.

The Travelling Butler and House Manager is expected to lead the on-site team on a daily basis, in a ‘hands-on” capacity, and to ensure that staff are adequately supported and informed. The Travelling Butler and House Manager is expected to actively plan and assist in all service required by The Principals, to include:

  • Oversee catering services, work with the Chef(s) and front of house team to create a seamless and timely service for all meals and guests, leading food service for all meals.
  • Setting the table for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
  • Greeting of all guests and visitors.
  • Perform front of house service as needed for breakfast, lunch and dinner (in particular when entertaining) and assisting the chef in the kitchen
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of special events (Including: dinner/cocktail parties), a proven sense of style and the aesthetic will be required for these occasions.
  • Manage and overview for all household services and deliveries, such as flower arranging and installation, food deliveries, alcohol and wine stock and food supplies and dry cleaning.
  • Work closely with the Principals EA with a view to cover for days off during high season.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the household systems such as; phone systems, Audio & AV, iPod docks, Apple TV / Apple music, speakers/sound system and Wi-Fi throughout the residence.

The Travelling Butler and House Manager is to manage and work with the Housekeeping Team whose key responsibilities are:

  • Ensuring that all housekeeping services are at the required standard (e.g. laundry; ironing; cleaning; morning guest room service; evening guest room service)
  • Cleaning the house on a daily basis including: Vacuuming, dusting, polishing silver, cleaning brass, cleaning furniture, upholstery, care of art and antiques, care of ceramics, cleaning crystal, cleaning windows, care of carpets, cleaning fireplaces, doors, architrave & skirting boards, mopping & waxing floors, moving & arranging furniture and turning mattresses.
  • Complete the morning service, which includes; making beds, ironing beds, opening curtains, removing clothing, checking & cleaning ensuite bathrooms, and checking bottled water stock.
  • Complete the night service: turning down beds, checking pillows, preparing hot water bottles, closing curtains, cleaning ensuite bathrooms, and preparing medication
  • Laundry and ironing including care of fine clothing, linens, bedding, tablecloths, towels and repairs to clothing as required. An essential part of the role is the laundering of the Principal’s clothes and having confidence with the washing and pressing of all delicate fabrics.
  • Cleaning the kitchen, washing glasses, china, cutlery, and cooking utensils
  • Floral arranging and landscaping.
  • Purchasing household supplies to maintain proper stock levels.
  • Packing and unpacking of clothing, accessories and jewelry for The Principals
  • Collation and checking of photographic inventories of the items being received and sent.
  • Maintenance of photographic household and clothing inventories, to include: room set-up, linens, table cloths, crockery, glassware, ceramics and silver.

Housekeeper – live out Knightsbridge

We’re looking for a full time housekeeper for a substantial property in Knightsbridge. / The nearest station is Knightsbridge or South Kensington

The role is full time, five days a week, nine hours a day on a rota system.

The client is an UHNW lady with two teenage children, two dogs and a very busy life. She demands the highest standards, privacy and happy smiley people. She likes positive energy.

The house is not formal, however very, very high standards are kept.

The role includes all general house keeping duties, laundry, simple breakfast prep, very occasional cooking would be a bonus (although we have a chef). We are looking for someone with great experience at this level who can hit the ground running. A proven track record across multiple properties is a must.

The house is fully staffed with three housekeepers, head housekeeper, chef, drivers, security, maintenance and house manager. We muck in as a team and get the job done. We have a great positive core team and all get along really well. ​

We’re really looking for a great housekeeper, so we are willing to go higher in salary – right up to £50k for the right candidate, however, to achieve this top salary they must be truly top of their game. More realistically, we’d pay £40+ something, for a solid housekeeper with good all round skills and  the right can do attitude, who is prepared to learn skills when needed, and can show that they enjoy being part of a team

Note. The house does provide service throughout the day, so there is a shift system in place, 5 shifts per week (2 days off per week) each shift is 9 hours, weekends are shared, first shift starts at about 08:00, while the last shift starts at about 13:00 and finishes at 22:00. (Just occasionally there might be a 06:30 start)

The client loves staff who can show longevity and some nice work experience gathered in respected households and some deluxe hotel experience may be useful too
