INHOUSE was set up in 2000 by Mary Dobson, who has been working in the industry since 1994.

We offer a discreet, bespoke service for discerning employers within private households and prestigious private establishments. We specialise in the very highest calibre of domestic staff on a full time, part time or on a temporary basis both in the UK and Internationally.

We can assist with all staffing needs, however large or small. We have successfully supplied candidates to professional city-dwelling families, working country estates, stately homes, holiday villas and ocean going yachts.

How We Work

We offer a quality service to both clients and staff and will not waste your time by sending unsuitable applicants nor waste the applicant’s time by sending them for unsuitable posts.

After establishing your requirements we provide you with a selection of suitable candidates from our extensive database. For each candidate we endeavor to produce résumé outlining a candidate’s details and include a photograph. Once you have chosen the right candidates we will arrange the interviews on your behalf.


All our applicants have gone through our rigorous process of personal interview, reference and previous employment history verification. They must have at least two years experience and / or relevant professional qualifications. We ensure that all applicants have legal rights to work in the UK.

All written references are personally verbally endorsed before any candidate would be considered for any suitable vacancy.

Recent Vacancies

Daily Housekeeper, North London

A weekday daily housekeeper/stewardess if required for a couple based in North London.  Must be a dog lover as taking care of the dog is an important part of this role.

The hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

The candidate would be working alongside the weekend housekeeper and reporting to the PA.

Duties include classic day to day cleaning and maintaining the standard of the house, keeping supplies in stock, ordering food and cleaning products, dealing with suppliers, answering the door and phone, carrying out laundry and ironing, taking care of the dog.

The candidate will be required to travel with the principals twice a year for two to three months, in the summer on their yacht, where the duties include taking car of the dog and taking care of the master cabin.  In the winter in their chalet in a ski resort, where the duties would mask the same as in London.

The candidate would be required to take care of the dog when they are travelling.

This would suit a single person who is flexible, likes the idea of travel and is a dog lover.

Fluent English is essential. Eligibility to work in the UK and housekeeping experience.  To start April.

£32k per annum negotiable


An experienced butler is required to work for a single lady based in Chelsea.

Five storey house, Cook, Housekeeper and laundress are also employed.

The principal is in residence for around six months of the year, not all at one time as she travels to her other homes during the year.

When in residence this would be a six day week, the candidate would be required to start at 11.30a.m. if the principal is not entertaining he would finish at 9pm, , if she is hosting a dinner party it would be later, but he would be compensated for any extra hours. Five day week when she is not in residence

Must be very professional, be able to lay and serve at table, assist with flower arranging, be prepared to help the housekeeper if required and generally be flexible.

A warm friendly disposition is required.

A private assistant to provide personal support to the Principals to ensure smooth running family life as well as solid business support in all areas.

As a small evolving private family office, you will be willing and capable of working on a wide variety of task and projects, filling any gaps that may arise and generally providing, support, guidance and stability for the team.

Working closely with another PA the key elements of the role are advance planning, strong communication, flexibility and adaptability.

Diary management and co-ordination of associated logistics, reservations, advance preparations or paperwork to take or follow up on, activities, appointments and travel arrangements including passports and visas.

Travel support planning trips and making all necessary arrangements, as well as ensuring all runs smoothly on the day.

Co-ordinate with household staff to ensure smooth day to day operations, ensuring everyone has what is need to succeed in their role. Potentially taking on the management duties as helpful, providing both support and leadership.

Take ownership for designated projects, conducting research and adding energy and ideas, providing best advice, logical recommendations and analysis of findings and driving to successful completion.

Happy to operate independently as well as work closely with others.

Proven experience as an Executive Assistant in a similar role.

Daily Housekeeper – Mayfair, London

A daily housekeeper is required to care for a large period home in Central London, which is currently used as a second home, therefore occasionally occupied.  The role will suit someone who is truly committed to looking after the cleanliness of a family home and considering the family’s needs when they are in residence.

When preparing for visits, the housekeeper will ensure all is set up and ready for arrival including beds made, towels and toiletries in place, groceries purchased etc.,

When the family or guests are home, usual daily housekeeping duties are expected for example, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen and dining area, emptying bins, to ensure rooms are presentable.  Taking care of laundry and dry cleaning.

Preparing simple family meals are provided and carrying out grocery shopping.

Excellent written and spoken English and able to communicate by WhatsApp and email is helpful.

When the family are not in residence the hours are 8 til 5pm, when the family are here it will be 7  – 4pm, but would have to be flexible.

Butler/House Manager, Berkshire

Butler/House Manager required to work for family based in Berkshire.

The Butler House Manager is required to ensure that the house and in particular the dining room, panty and breakfast room are correctly maintained and that all the staff are full aware of what is happening in the house at any time.

The primary role of the Butler/House Manager is to ensure that he delivers all forms of service to the owner and their guests when n residence.  The role includes the management, supervision and training of all household staff.  The Lodge should be kept in a state of preparation for occupancy at all times, allowing for family guests to arrive at short notice.

Hours of duty, off peak Monday to Friday 8a.m. to 4p.m. Peak times, whatever hours are required to fulfil the criteria of the position, which would include some weekends.

Duties: head of all household staff to include daily management and weekly team meetings. Main contact for the principal and the London Office.  Receive guests and arrange luggage to rooms.  Running the dining room.

Managing the housekeeper and household staff.

Driving is required.

Accommodation consists of a three bedroom cottage.
