About Us

INHOUSE was set up in 2000 by director, Mary Dobson, who has been working in the industry since 1994.

We offer a discreet, bespoke service for discerning employers within private households and prestigious private establishments. We specialise in the very highest calibre of domestic staff on a full time, part time or on a temporary basis both in the UK and Internationally.

We can assist with all staffing needs, however large or small. We have successfully supplied candidates to professional city-dwelling families, working country estates, stately homes, holiday villas and ocean going yachts.

How We Work

We offer a quality service to both clients and staff and will not waste your time by sending unsuitable applicants nor waste the applicant’s time by sending them for unsuitable posts.

After establishing your requirements we provide you with a selection of suitable candidates from our extensive database. For each candidate we endeavor to produce résumé outlining a candidate’s details and include a photograph. Once you have chosen the right candidates we will arrange the interviews on your behalf.


All our applicants have gone through our rigorous process of personal interview, reference and previous employment history verification. They must have at least two years experience and / or relevant professional qualifications. We ensure that all applicants have legal rights to work in the UK.

All written references are personally verbally endorsed before any candidate would be considered for any suitable vacancy.

Recent Vacancies

Nanny – live in

Family based in Belgravia, London are seeking a residential nanny who can look after two children aged 6yrs and 3yrs, to work alongside another nanny.

Dual care role alongside the other who is very active in instructing on her children’s care.

Taking care of two children’s laundry and tidying their bedrooms and playroom whilst they are at school/nursery.  Suffice to say light housekeeping duties.  A kind but firm personality. Candidate must be polite, respectful and able to follow instructions clearly but also with own initiative.

Live in 5.5 days per week, must have worked with children of this age group.  Private room provided, shared bathroom with one other female staff member. Uniform provided, lightweight and comfortable.

Hours 7.30 a.m. to 7.30 pm, half day Saturday.  Must be able to travel abroad. Start date is TBC depending on candidate availability.

There are a lot of stairs in the house so would probably suit someone younger but not essential.  Would suit Filipino/Asian .  Must speak good English.


£450 - £500 net per week

Daily Housekeeper – Holland Park

A daily housekeeper required for a forty hour week, working for a couple in Holland Park.

Duties are maintaining general upkeep and oversight of a residence in Holland Park.  Co-ordinate activities as necessary. Support employer’s family s needed.  Assist in special projects as needed.

Maintain residence to a high standard, responsibility  for all laundry cleaning and ironing, including arranging bespoke cleaning for some items.  Packing and unpacking suitcases.  Provide assistance for and attend to house guests.

Cooking and serving meals, the couple like healthy food.

Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.

Occasional dog walking, Labrador (dog)

The house is a four storey house.  The principals spend six months in the country not all at one time.

On occasion would be prepared to travel to other family residences in UK & Europe.

28 days holiday per annum (including bank holidays)

Live out role.

Housekeeper – Gloucester – Live in

A residential housekeeper required to work for a family on a large estate in Gloucester, would be required to work as part of a large team, including other housekeepers, butler, chef.

Must have good laundry skills as would be taking care of the lady of the house. General housekeeping duties required to a high standard.

The family have other residences so do travel, the applicant would not be required to travel with them.

It is a busy household and they entertain.

They also have several dogs so the applicant must be dog friendly.

£400 net per week


General duties, maintaining general oversight of several residential properties, primary residence in London. co-ordinate calendars, schedules and travel with executive assistant team and household staff. Flexible hours.

Day to day chauffeur, including to and from office, airport and meetings, vehicle maintenance.  Several long distance trips each year to Europe.

Butler, cook basic dishes, like omelettes etc., Press suits, iron shirts, sew buttons, shine shoes, pack and unpack suitcases, perform basic repair work around the house.  Handle, clean and transport shotguns.  Walk and care for dog in owners absence.  Serve at dinner parties.  Maintain general budgeting, expense management and household files.

Basic computer skills, UK shotgun certificate required, training and certificate application support provided if needed.  European passport.

Up to 2 weeks UK travel, primarily around shooting season (September – January),Up to four months of non-UK travel, living and working primarily in Switzerland.

Competitive basic salary, discretionary bonus scheme for outstanding work, 28 days per annum holiday entitlement (inclusive of Bank Holidays).

Governess/House Manager

An opportunity has arisne to work for a delightful family based in St Johns Wood.  This would be taking over from the present employee who has decided to move on after nine years.

There are two children a boy aged ten years and girl of fourteen.

Governess role

Duties are to oversee children’s homework, there are two tutors employed on an adhoc basis, take the boy to school which is within walking distance to the home.  Ensuring the children follow a routine that allows for homework and educational activities.  Assisting the children good manners, etiquette and right code of conduct.  Understand the school syllabus and requirements that each child needs to meet, prepare the children for exams and school assessments by liaising with the tutors.

House Manager duties.

Managing the household’s schedules and calendars, arranging appointments for personal and professional needs.  Organising home maintenance and repair work, running errands, supervision of other household staff, housekeepers, nannies and chefs.  Shopping for food supplies and other requested items, training staff members.

The family travel during school holidays and the applicant would be asked to go with them except for the Christmas break.

Would suit someone who is self motivated, would like some outdoor activities and encourage the children to get out and about, arrange outings to  galleries and museums etc.,

Hours are from 7.30a.m. to 7.30 p.m, The family are delightful, the position is to  start in April but if the right applicant is available now they are happy to employ now and let the current employee do a swap over.  The house is fully staffed, with chef, daily and live in housekeepers, and drivers and nanny.


Residential Couple

Couple to look after a five bedroom family home and guest house, based in Henley on Thames area.


UK based couple need experienced professional couple to run their recently refurbished principal residence. Other ancillary staff are also employed.  Both will need to have initiative, be highly organised, efficient and confident in all aspects of managing the operations of a reasonable sized family home, which includes a principal house and secondary guest house. Be able to recruit and manage secondary part tie staff and have an understanding of running a home maintained to a high standard.


Running the house including the organisation and implantation of systems.  Generally running the house to a five star hotel standard.  Hands on cleaning, washing and ironing.  Buying and arranging flowers. Liaising with contractors, carrying out provisioning, general shopping and other errands including online shopping.  Ideally cooking for the couple on an occasion although not essential

Cat and dog sitting whilst the couple are away, full drivers license, and non smokers only, five day week.
